This kind of monographs
with illustrations
not yet published objects
from private collections
are a novelty on the book market.

In this second volume of the "Art from Black Africa" series, 187 masks and sculptures are shown on 216 color pages. An easy-to-understand text describes their use, which is illustrated by numerous color field photographs. The amazing variety of designs of masks and sculptures by different carvers belonging to the same ethnic group has never been illustrated in this way before. With few exceptions, the objects presented are privately owned and have almost never been published before. Many objects are shown from two sides.

Dr. Hans Joachim Koloss, ethnologist, former head of the Africa Department of the Völkerkundemuseum Berlin: "Congratulations on the first volume of the series: 'Art from Black Africa'. A very great work. This kind of monographs with illustrations of previously unpublished objects from private collections are a novelty on the book market."
