Christiane Löhr
Biography
The sculptor Christiane Löhr was born in Wiesbaden in 1965. From 1994-97 she studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and in 1996 she became a master student of Jannis Kounellis. Since 1993, Löhr has regularly received awards and prizes for her work. From natural materials such as grass, flowers, seeds and leaves, she creates incredibly light, fragile and at the same time radically minimal sculptures and thus creates artificial, narrative landscapes in space. Among others, her works can be found in the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró / Palma de Mallorca, Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, The Museum of Modern Art / New York, FAI Villa e Collezione Panza / Varese, The New York Public Library / New York and the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, Pinakothek der Moderne / Munich. In 2020, Hatje Cantz Verlag published a comprehensive monograph on Christiane Löhr. The artist lives in Cologne and Prato (Italy).
